International Standards

Our university's Nursing Program is designed to meet the highest international standards, aligning with the Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice (AACN, 2008), the regulations outlined in the Laws on Professions in Individual Health Care (BIG) (Dutch Government, 1998), the WHO European Standards for Nursing and Midwifery, and the Family and Community Nurse Competencies established by the ENHANCE project. As an institution based in Curaçao, an Associated Member of the European Union and part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, we adhere to the Bologna Process, ensuring compatibility with global nursing education frameworks.
We actively support international initiatives aimed at optimizing nursing standards, resource development, and standardization. This includes frameworks such as the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP) by the International Council of Nurses.
Our program is built on strong ethical foundations, guided by globally recognized principles, including those set forth by the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA). To uphold these standards, we incorporate a selection of internationally accepted guidelines and codes into our curriculum, ensuring that our graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of professional nursing practice.
